This is the latest recycling information document (actually a sign design) from the Springfield MRF. Not everything on this sign is intuitive to me, but it's a good start in learning the various types of plastic and their ability to be recycled in Pittsfield. REMEMBER: plastic grocery bags can be recycled at most supermarkets, but not in our curbside collection.

Right to Farm Ordinance (372.53 kb)
This document is the proposed Right to Farm ordinance, which upholds the rights of farms and discourages nuisance complaints about noise, dust, or odors resulting from the normal day to day operations of a farm. It also creates an Agricultural Commission to advise the city on agricultural issues and help resolve conflicts between property owners. As one of the advocates for this legislation I credit the Mayor for bringing it forward.

On August 28th, the Pittsfield Green Commission received this report on the city's energy usage and subsequent greenhouse gas emissions. The report was prepared by Chad Brown, a summer intern at City Hall. It represents the first milestone of the Green Commission -- to audit the energy usage of the city. The next task for the commission is to establish a goal for a reduction in emissions. Word Doc.

The old brick schoolhouse on Merrill Road is a perfect fit for TalentFusion, and their company is a perfect fit for Pittsfield.
